Jennifer Calles Izquierdo

Profile

Jennifer Calles graduated from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2009 with a degree in Art History. In 2010, she received her M.A. in Contemporary Art and Visual Culture from Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. From 2011 to 2014, she was a professor in the Cursos de Estudios Hispánicos program at the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, where she taught courses on Spanish Art. In 2016, she received a Master’s in Hispanic Studies from Villanova University and she is currently a graduate student in the Department of Latin American and Iberian Cultures at Columbia University.
Her research interests include contemporary culture and visual arts in Latin America and Spain. She is focused on transatlantic perspectives, art exhibition devices, feminism and queer politics of representation, artivism, creative action and expressive empowerment.
