In this course we will discuss the theory and practice of short fiction by the leading exponents of the genre in Spanish America. Authors to be discussed may include: Horacio Quiroga, Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortázar, Juan Rulfo, Jose Donoso, Rosario Castellanos, Augusto Monterroso, Rosario Ferre, Gabriel García Márquez, Angelica Gorodischer, Roberto Bolaño, and Andrea Maturana.
