Join us for an evening with Mexico City-born artist, novelist, and filmmaker Leopoldo Goût, whose multidisciplinary work spans literature, contemporary art, film, and television. His work explores the intersections of culture, history, identity, memory, and the supernatural. Goût will discuss his newest novel, Rooted, a haunting story that follows Aurora, an art lawyer who returns to Mexico City after helping repatriate stolen artifacts, including a mysterious statue of the Aztec god known as The Flayed One. As reality begins to unravel around her, Aurora is forced to confront buried family secrets, cultural memory, and histories that refuse to remain hidden.
The evening will begin with light refreshments, followed by a conversation with Goût and an audience Q&A. The event will conclude with a meet-and-greet and book signing.
The event is organized by Prof. Nick J. Figueroa and hosted by the Hispanic Institute and the Latinos Urbanos Book Club. Admission is free, but registration is required. Use this link to order a book for pickup at the event.
