Jana Soler Libran

Jana is a Ph.D. student in Latin American and Iberian Cultures at Columbia University. She holds a B.A in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (UPF-UC3M-UAM) and an M.A in Contemporary Thought and Classical Tradition from Universitat de Barcelona (UB).

Prior to joining Columbia University, Jana worked as a research assistant in the Department of Philosophy at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). In collaboration with the Research Group Women, Gender and Queer Studies (UAB), she contributed to the development and implementation of gender-based teaching methodologies. Additionally, Jana was granted a scholarship to participate in the Research Group in Contemporary Philosophy, Ethics, and Politics Aporia (UB).

Her research focuses on studying the relationship between philosophy and poetry as an alternative praxis to modern reasoning, particularly in María Zambrano’s work. Jana is also interested in the construction of counter-archives of cultural history, feminist epistemologies, sociopolitical constructions of desire and bodies, and the development of capitalism and means of popular resistance in contemporary Spain, both in its material and symbolic forms.
